Birds woke Kafka up. A huge bird flapped its wings but he couldn't see it. He couldn't see the freedom? I don't know. Sounds important. The sunlight is back, so he doesn't feel lonely and helpless anymore like how he did under the stars.
It's raining. Catharsis. Will Kafka change? "Like a religious initiation". Seems like catharsis. Even though it is dark, he feels free. "Made me feel strangely purified." Later, the sun and the birds com back.
"You might dream about raping your sister, your mother. It's not something you can control. It's a power beyond you-and all you can do is accept it."
Sounds like Oedipus.
I really like this: "Silence, I discover, is something you can actually hear".
